Online Art Skool Launches New “Campus” and Spring Kourse Schedule that Takes Students into the Studios of Artists in Barcelona, Brooklyn, Harlem, New Orleans and Sicily; Online Registration Underway"6 Weeks. 6 Klasses. 6 Amazing Teachers
(Media-Newswire.com) - New York, NY—April 9, 2015—What if learning to draw didn’t mean sitting in a dusty classroom, but each week brought you into the studios of artists in Barcelona, New Orleans, Sicily, Harlem, and more? Sketchbook Skool, a video-based digital platform for art education and entertainment, combines online education with the connectivity of social media and the entertainment value of television. Today Sketchbook Skool announces the world-class fakulty line-up for its new spring kourse, “Stretching”—klasses start April 17—and the opening of a new collaborative “campus” and student union.
Sketchbook Skool boasts an international roster of 20 fakulty artists, educators and illustrators—in high-production-value video klasses. Finally it’s possible to join a global arts community of 10,000+ students in a supportive environment for inspiration, discovery, instruction, feedback, advice, and, this semester, stretching beyond the boundaries of our artistic comfort zones and into fresh new directions.
Whatever your level, “Stretching” will expand your horizons and shake up your habits, and challenge you to create illustrations of your own. With “Stretching” you’ll get six weeks, six klasses and six amazing teachers: • Lapin will invite you to a late-night European artists’ dinner that turns into a stunning portrait party. • Jonathan Twingley will show you how to bring out the pictures in your head using a broad range of unusual materials. Then he’ll turn turn a big stack of drawings into a brilliant, fun collage. • France Belleville van Stone will explore the science of crosshatching and then show you how to turn your iPad into a sketchbook. • Miguel Herranz will take you on a stroll through Barcelona and show you how he paints the town red — and many other colors. • Fabio Consoli will take you to Sicily and show you how he gathers all sorts of information and imagery to create whimsical, beautiful pages in his studio. • Jason Das will teach you about urban sketching in the vibrant city of New Orleans.
“We’re all born artists. Sketchbook Skool encourages all of us to unleash that creative, wide-eyed, unburdened spirit we once had. ‘Stretching’ is our best klass yet, and will challenge you to push in directions where the experiences are fresh and new again,” says Sketchbook Skool co-founder Danny Gregory. Sketchbook Skool’s new campus and student union are online destinations for members of the community to post art, leave messages and comments, plan local drawing meet-ups and sketch crawls, and see what other students are working on and how they’re inspired by the challenges of each klass. “Art for all,” SBS’s dynamic blog, and “Q&Art,” a video interview show profiling artists and educators with distinct perspectives, continue to invigorate the site.
Sketchbook Skool offers six-week video “kourses” for $99, each week taught by a different celebrated artist, illustrator, designer and/or author. Kourses cover various aspects of illustrated journaling: watercoloring, drawing, calligraphy, urban sketching, nature drawing, portraits and more. The new kourse schedule starts on April 17th with six new teachers from Europe and the US. Anyone can sign up for a free sample klass on the “art for all” blog at http://bit.ly/SampleKlass.
