(Media-Newswire.com) - Researchers from the University of Bath’s Department for Health are looking for volunteers to take part in a project designed to explore how diet and exercise affects health.
The research is being carried out by Dr James Betts and Dr Dylan Thompson, from the Human Physiology Research Group at the University and could be a great way to start New Year’s resolutions for a healthier lifestyle.
The team will measure diet and eating patterns, physical activity and exercise, body fat, muscle mass as well different measures in blood.
The project is led by Dr Judith Richardson from the Human Physiology Research Group, who said: ‘Each volunteer will receive comprehensive feedback regarding their individual results, which includes full dietary and physical activity analyses so participants will know exactly their energy intake ( how many calories are consumed ) and energy expenditure ( how many calories are used ), to inform how best to lose weight and improve health’.
Dr Betts said: ‘People often start the New Year with resolutions to have a healthier lifestyle but are then unsure as to whether they are doing the correct thing. The feedback people will receive from this study will help people to improve their health in the most effective way’.
Volunteers need to be between the ages of 21-60 and will be invited to the laboratory at the University of Bath campus on five separate occasions, which can be scheduled flexibly over a 12-week period.
The study is funded by the Biotechnology & Biological Sciences Research Council ( BBSRC ).
There is no payment for volunteers but expenses are covered.
