OAS Begins Training for Panamanian Public Officials
The Organization of American States (OAS) began this week the training of 74 municipal officials in ten districts of Panama, in the framework of the implementation of the second phase of the Munet e-government program, developed by the Department for Effective Public Management of the Secretariat for Political Affairs (SAP).
(Media-Newswire.com) - The Organization of American States ( OAS ) began this week the training of 74 municipal officials in ten districts of Panama, in the framework of the implementation of the second phase of the Munet e-government program, developed by the Department for Effective Public Management of the Secretariat for Political Affairs ( SAP ).
The initiative was carried out in line with the objectives of the Authority for Governmental Innovation of Panama, and seeks to modernize public administration to improve services to citizens, promote transparency and streamline changes in municipal management. The program used is MuNet e-Government, developed by the OAS. The program accompanies the municipalities in all stages that lead to the consolidation of a plan for municipal modernization to incorporate the use of the tools of information and communication technologies ( ICTs ) in their management, to increase efficiency, enhance transparency and promote citizen participation.
The course, which is delivered through the Virtual Campus of the Department of Effective Public Management of the OAS, is called "Introduction to municipal e-government strategies," and lasts for eight weeks. Training classes are held thanks to the contributions of the Canadian Agency for International Development.
