(Media-Newswire.com) - A golden performance by Caroline Wozniacki at the U.S. Open displayed the amazing tennis of the Danish teenager more so than the buzz about her looks in pictures. Caroline Wozniacki defeated top player and former number one seed Maria Sharapova in straight sets at the U.S. Open. But the buzz about her photos has caused more interest than her tennis playing.
Caroline Wozniacki defeated the once top seed Sharapova 6-3 and 6-4 advancing to the quarterfinals round of the U.S Open from Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York. She next plays against Dominika Cibulkova who is unranked for the tournament and should be an easy adversary after putting away Sharapova who is a three time Grand Slam winner.
Wozniacki came to the tournament ranked first due to her run of twelve straight wins and record of 18-1 since Wimbeldon. The ranking was aided by the withdrawal of world top seeded player Serena Williams.
