(Media-Newswire.com) - The Cuddesdon Corner Children's Centre in Blackbird Leys was rated 'outstanding' in a number of key areas in the report, including the quality of care and support offered to users of the centre and the wider community, and 'good' in the rest following a visit from the government regulator last month.
The county council-run centre, which caters for children under the age of five and their families, is one of three that serves the Blackbird Leys community, and is the first of its kind to be assessed by Ofsted in Oxfordshire.
Which areas were judged as 'outstanding'?The quality of care, guidance and support offered to users within the centre and the wider community The effectiveness of the centre's policy, procedures and work with key agencies in safeguarding children and, where applicable, vulnerable adults The extent to which partnerships with other agencies ensure the integrated delivery of the range of services the centre has been commissioned to provide Ofsted inspector Wendy Ratcliff also highlighted the centre's strong links with specific professionals such as health visitors and speech therapists as an area of good practice and highlighted how it uses university students to focus on particular areas, such as language development.
She spoke to parents at the centre, some of who described the support that is on offer there as a 'lifeline'.
Users' views the keyThe centre, which received 14 'good' ratings and three 'outstanding' assessments for the 17 individual categories it was inspected on, was also commended for the way it incorporated users' views and how they had an influence on provision.
The centre - judged 'good' overall - was also praised for its "extremely informative website" by the inspector and how the quality of advice and guidance for those accessing benefits and those seeking to gain employment was "excellent".
