A panel of some of the biggest names in political forecasting are to discuss at a University of Manchester event whether it really is possible to predict an election.
Professors David Sanders, Richard Nadeau, Matt Lebo and Michael Thrasher will assess how successful the art of predicting elections has been – and how it is likely to change in the future.
The roundtable is one of the issues up for discussion at a two day international symposium called ‘Methods and Models for Election Forecasting: the UK General Election of 2010’.
The event is organised by the Democracy, Citizens and Elections Research Network ( DCERN ) at The University of Manchester.
It is sponsored by the University’s Institute for Social Change, EPOP - a specialist group of the Political Studies Association of the UK and Routledge Publishers.
