(Media-Newswire.com) - The Daytona 500 qualifying is underway in Florida with Dale Earnhardt Jr. taking the fastest lap up until this point. The Daytona 500 Qualifying is setting the lineup of cars that will run in next weekend's first NASCAR race for the 2010 season.
The actual lineup is determined by a number of factors. The two fastest qualifiers will line up #1 and #2 to lead the race but those who finished in the top 35 in owner points from last season will also be given a spot in the race. Exact lineups will be determined by a race later in the week.
Last year's Sprint Cup winner Jimmie Johnson is once again reported to be the overall winner for the 2010-11 season.
The Daytona 500 qualifying sets up the race which is set for Valentine's Day February 14 at 1 P.M. EST. The race will be aired by FOX Sports.
