A massive snowstorm in the Washington D.C. area has caused record snow totals for the surrounding regions with reports of 24 inches of snow falling in areas. More snow is expected for the area today.
(Media-Newswire.com) - A massive snowstorm in the Washington D.C. area has caused record snow totals for the surrounding regions with reports of 24 inches of snow falling in areas. More snow is expected for the area today.
Snowfall was falling at the rate of two or three inches per hour overnight with up to nine more inches coming today.
In Maryland, electric company for the area reported up to 34,000 people are currently without power after restoring power to thousands more.
On Friday, schools and businesses had sent people home for the day in anticipation of the storm as forecasters were predicting between two to three feet in snowfall totals.
