Ortiz was the winner by split decision in the fight which was two years ago. Many felt it was a very close decision and the fighters needed to meet again to see who really was the better fighter.
Griffin is coming off his embarrassing loss against the UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Ortiz has been out of action for almost two years last losing against current UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida.
Part of the fight card is available for free on cable television with main card only seen on pay per view.
