(Media-Newswire.com) - The drug chloral hydrate was used by Anna Nicole Smith increasingly after the death of her son according to testimony by her former bodyguard Maurice Brighthaupt. The drug was also cited as the primary cause of her death due to an overdose.
The testimony came at the hearing to determine whether Howard K. Stern can be brought on charges of conspiring to obtain illegal drugs for Smith. The prosecutors are also using this testimony to determine also the same charges against two Los Angeles doctors.
Brighthaupt testified that one of the accused doctors had given Smith the chloral hydrate after the death of her son in 2005. He also testified that the drugs were brought personally to Smith in the Bahamas.
