Brain Tumor Awareness Event to Celebrate Survivors
COLUMBUS, Ohio th The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center th James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute will host the second annual Brain Tumor Awareness and Survivor Day Celebration on Saturday (5/9) from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at The Fawcett Center, 2400 Olentangy River Road.
(Media-Newswire.com) - COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute will host the second annual Brain Tumor Awareness and Survivor Day Celebration on Saturday ( 5/9 ) from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at The Fawcett Center, 2400 Olentangy River Road.
The event will feature a performance by Matthew Zachary, founder of the I’m Too Young for This! Foundation. Zachary is an award-winning recording artist, composer and performer, as well as an accredited thought-leader in public health. Zachary, who also is a leading authority on youth culture, will speak about his 12-year battle with medulloblastoma cancer.
Dr. Herb Newton, director of the division of neuro-oncology, also will perform with his band, Grey Matter. May is designated as Brain Tumor Awareness Month.
During the event, patients and survivors will have the opportunity to share their stories through the “Hidden Under Our Hats” campaign by decorating their own personalized hats. The decorated, donated hats will be sent to Washington, D.C., to be displayed with other hats from around the country, in an effort to raise brain tumor awareness and increase research funding.
