Heifer Cornerstone Study Tour Day 10. On the road to Zhongdian, Yunnan, China; altitude 2.5 miles. We’ve just passed Tiger Leaping Gorge on the upper reaches of the Yangtse River, within view now is the backside of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The next three days will be spent in the remote Yi minority village of Gangou, high in the Himalayas, where a Heifer International project is helping with community development, improving people’s livelihoods by teaching sustainable self-reliance.

May 17th-May 31st 2009, limited to 8 participants from Drew Seminary. We will be joining students of eco-theology from Hendrix College. Visits to villages and cities in Southwest China of the Wa, A-chang, Bai, Hui, Naxi and Tibetan minorities in one of the world’s most culturally and biologically diverse regions. Learn the Heifer Projects 12 cornerstones toward the end of hunger and poverty, discuss with environmental leaders in China how these cornerstones could be applied to community development throughout the world in the Global Village Beijing. Climb up to glacers, soak in volcanic hot springs.
